North Texas Golf Starts Spring Season Strong

RIO VERDE, Ariz. (3/6/05) - The North Texas women’s golf team started the spring season off on the right foot with a fourth place finish at the East/West Rio Verde Invitational from the Rio Verde Country Club.


The Mean Green were paced by true freshman Halli Jo Richards, who was playing in her first tournament and finished tied for third place individually


Richards shot a second round score of 1-over par 72 and ended with a three-round total of 223, just five strokes behind the winner.


Andra Lancaster just missed out on a top 10 finish as she ended tied for 11th after a three-round score of 229. Lancaster had her best round of the tournament on the final day with a 1-over par 72.


Freshman Lauren Cheves had another strong outing with a three-round score of 231 as she finished tied for 16th.


The Mean Green finished in fourth place out of 18 teams. North Texas will return to action on Monday, March 7 at the Bobcat Desert Classic.
