Golden Post Career-Low Round At The Islander Spring Classic

CORPUS CHRISTI, Tex. (2/27/07) Experience paced the North Texas women’s golf team but youth certainly showed its potential at the final round of the Ed Hicks Nissan Islander Spring Classic.


Senior Tara Lambright had a top 15 finish with a three-round score of 226, but freshman Janna Golden had the best round of the tournament for any North Texas golfer.


Golden fired an even-par round of 72 in the third round, which tied for the sixth best round of the day at the tournament. The 72 is a career-low round for Golden as she finished with a three-round score of 239.


Lambright finished tied for 13th place with a final round of 76.


Freshman Jordan Rose shot a final round of 77 and had a 229 for the tournament. Maggie Noel shot a third round 78 and Christine Shimon a final round of 81.


North Texas as a team shot its best round of the tournament with a 303 and finished in 9th place in the field of 15 teams.


The Mean Green is back in action on March 12-14 at the Bobcat Desert Classic.
