TUCSON, Ariz. (2/24/04)- Sophomore Jaclyn Golden continues to lead the North Texas women's golf team after the second round of play at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational from Arizona National Golf Club. With the conditions remaining blustery and damp Golden shot a second round score of 82 to pace the Mean Green with a two-round score of 162.
"We played better today with the conditions the way that they were," said North Texas head coach Jim Bob Jackson. "We were able to come out and make some difficult shots today and played very well. I think that the girls are starting to gain some confidence that we can carry over into the the final round".
Sophomore Andra Lancaster rebounded from a difficult first round to shot a second score of 79. Laura Rakel is two shots in front of Lancaster with a two-round score of 165. Freshman Tara Lambright has a two-day score of 172 after the first two rounds of play. As a team North Texas shaved four strokes off their first round score to post a 333.
North Texas continues play in the Wildcat Invitational as the final round gets underway tomorrow at 8 a.m.
