VICTORIA, Texas - It was a battle to the finish but the quest for a fourth tournament title this year for the North Texas women's golf team came up just short at the Claud Jacobs Invitational. The Mean Green had the second best round in the final 18 holes with a 304, but ended up tied for third place with No. 43 Tulsa with a three-round score of 923.
North Texas did have three players take home top-10 finishes. Addison Long shot a final round of 4-over par with three birdies and finished tied for seventh place. It is the third top-10 finish of the season for Long this year and the fifth of her career.
Kelsey Kipp and Jacey Chun were tied for 10th place, just one shot behind Long. Kipp fired a final round of 78 while Chun shot a third round of 80. The pair finished at 230 for the tournament. It is the fifth straight top-10 finish for Kipp.
Chandra Alexander had the best round of the day for the Mean Green with a 1-under par 71. Alexander had two birdies and 15 pars on the day with only one bogey in her final round. She finished in 30th place. Freshman Chaslyn Chrismer had her best round of the tournament with a final round of 79.
North Texas has finished in the top-3 in four of their five events this season. The Mean Green returns to action on Feb. 28-March 1 at the Islander Spring Classic.
