Spring Season Underway For The Mean Green

ENSENADA, Mexico (2/7/07) Senior Tara Lambright opened the spring season strong for the North Texas women’s golf team with a top-15 finish at the Baja Classic. The event was shortened due to fog to just two rounds, but that didn’t stop Lambright from posting a two-round score of 154 which put her in a tie for 15th place.

Only four shots separated Lambright from the top finishers. Oregon’s Kimberly McCready ran away from the field to win the individual title with a two-round score of 145.

The deep field of 15 teams featured squads from the PAC-10, Big 12, SEC, Conference-USA, the WAC, and the Big East. North Texas finished in a tie for 9th place with Kansas.

The Mean Green had four freshmen along with Lambright competing in the tournament. Freshman Maggie Noel turned in solid tournament, just three shots behind Lambright to post a two-round score of 157. Jordan Rose and Kelsie Gray came in with scores of 164 and Janna Golden shot a 176.

North Texas is back in action on Feb. 26-27 at the Islanders Spring Classic.
