Lee, Cox Post Strong Second Rounds In Cabo
Mean Green Pair Had Much-Improved Day Two At Battle At The Beach
CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico - Junior Sol Lee and sophomore Lauren Cox had much improved performances on day two for the Mean Green during the second round of the Battle at the Beach at Club Campestre San Jose. The quartet of Mean Green golfers competing are all doing so as individuals.
"Sol and Lauren really improved in round two," head coach Michael Akers said. "Sol had five birdies, but a triple bogey kept her from going low. Lauren was steady and her short game looked sharp. Elena [Kim] had three birdies early, but lost some shots later in the round. We look forward to the final round and hope to finish the fall on a positive note."
Lee finished at 2-over on the day after firing a 73. Her five birdies included three consecutive on 13, 14 and 15, while also birdieing the fifth and eighth holes, respectively. She parred eight times, and bogeyed on four occasions in addition to her triple on 18, which was just her second hole of the day.
Cox birdied just once, on the fourth, but was consistent all day. She parred 13 holes, while bogeying four to finish her day at 3-over after carding a 74.
The Mean Green return to action with the third and final round Sunday, starting at 7:30 a.m. CT. Follow along live tomorrow with live results here, courtesy of BirdieFire.
