Shaddix Shines For North Texas In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – It was a slow start for the North Texas women’s golf team at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown as the Mean Green faced off with some of the nation’s top teams. Despite the opening round of 318, freshman Abbi Shaddix shined for North Texas as she posted the lowest round of the day for NT with a 3-over par.

Shaddix posted three birdies on the day as she is tied for 41st place after the first round.

Maraea Durie shot a 5-over par 77 after 18 holes as she is tied for 58th place. Eji Kwon and Laura DeLeonardis struggled on the afternoon as they shot 11-over par on the day while Nyca Khaw was one stroke back with a 12-over par 84.

North Texas as a team is in 18th place after the first round of play. San Diego State holds a six-stroke lead  after the opening round of play.
