LAS CRUCES, N.M. – McKenzie Ralston and Eji Kwon are in the top-25 after the opening round of the Price’s Give Em Five Intercollegiate for the North Texas women’s golf team. Ralston is tied for 11th place after an opening round of 73 and Kwon is tied for 24th place after shooting a first round of 75.
North Texas as a team is in 12th after the first 18 holes with a score of 306. UC-Irvine holds a one-stroke lead over Portland through 18 holes.
Ralston had three birdies on the day and had the sixth lowest scoring average on par 5’s in the field. Ralston notched two of her three birdies on par 5’s. Kwon had a steadier day with one birdie and 14 pars, which was tied for the fifth most in the field on the day.
Chaslyn Chrismer and Laura DeLeonardis each shot an opening round of 79. DeLeonardis had three birdies on the day and had the best scoring average of the day on par 3’s. DeLeonardis had two birdies as she put up an average of 2.5 on the par 3’s.
Both players are tied for 53rd place. Taylor Kilponen is in 69th place after an opening round of 82.
The second round begins tomorrow morning with a shotgun start.
