Jennings Leads NT In New Mexico After 18 Holes

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Freshman Kalli Jennings led the way for the North Texas women’s golf team at the opening day of the Price’s Give Em Five Intercollegiate. Jennings shot a 3-over par 75 and is tied for 26th place after the first 18 holes.

Jennings was the lone bright spot in an otherwise difficult round for North Texas. The Mean Green has a team shot a 23-over par, 311 to start the tournament out in 13th place after the first round.

BYU holds the overall team lead by six strokes over the host New Mexico State after the first round.

Eji Kwon and Samantha Huang both shot 6-over par 78 on the day. Kwon had three birdies on the day and was 1-under par after her first eight holes, but two double bogeys sent Kwon over par.

Abbi Shaddix and Nyca Khaw are both tied for 65th place after an opening round of 80.
