Kwon Tied For Second Place After First Day In Tulsa
Mean Green In Fifth Place After 36 Holes
TULSA – Eji Kwon put together 36 holes of great golf to put herself and the North Texas women’s golf team in a prime position heading into the final round of the Bob Hurley Shootout.
Kwon shot an opening round of 73 and cut that down to a 1-under par 71 in the second round and she is tied for second place after the first day. Kwon’s strong play has put the Mean Green into fifth place after their best round of the fall season, a 301 in the second round, and contention heading into the last round.
Kwon sits only three strokes and is poised for a potential break through, her previous best finish was tied for fifth two seasons ago as a freshman.
True freshman Kalli Jennings shined as well for North Texas with after a 6-over par opening round, she sliced five strokes in the second round to shoot a 1-over par 73. She is tied for 21st place.
Abbi Shaddix shot rounds of 77 and 78 as she is tied for 32nd place after the first day. Nyca Khaw is four-shots behind Shaddix after shooting an 80 and 79 while freshman Samantha Huang, playing in her first tournament in college, is tied for 70th place at 166 after 36 holes.
North Texas as a team is 15 shots behind the leader Sam Houston State heading into the final day.
