MANHATTAN, Kan. – Blustery conditions battered the field in the final day of the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational but freshman Eji Kwon stood out for the North Texas women’s golf team.
On a day where the Mean Green notched just four total birdies on the day, Kwon was the only player to break 80 as she fired a final round of 78. No team in the entire field shot below a 308 on the day as scores were kept high by a north wind.
Kwon had two birdies on the day and climbed into a tie for 26th place as she was one of just 25 players to break 80 in the final round in the field of 81 golfers. McKenzie Ralston notched her second straight top-20 finish despite a final round of 85. Ralston finished tied for 17th place.
Taylor Kilponen shot a third round of 86 to finish tied for 43rd. Chaslyn Chrismer ended in 53rd place with a final round of 83 while Georgina Mundy shot a 90 in the final round to finish tied for 70th place.
