Tough Sledding For NT At SMU/DAC Invitational
North Texas Finishes In 16th Place
DALLAS -- Battling some of the top teams in the nation, the North Texas women's golf team was unable to climb the leaderboard at the SMU/DAC Invitational. NT shot a final round of 324 and closed out the tournament in 16th place. The field had eight teams ranked in the top-50 in the country.
Eji Kwon was able to notch a top-25 finish despite a final round of 5-over par. Kwon closed out her tournament strong to finish in a tie for 23rd place as she birdied three of the last six holes to play the final nine holes at 1-under par.
Maraea Durie ended in a tie for 52nd place after a final round of 79. Durie, like Kwon, finished much stronger on the back nine as she played shot a 1-over par on the final holes.
Abbi Shaddix shot a third-round of 11-over par to finish tied for 79th place while Nyca Khaw was tied for 80th place after shooting final round of 13-over. Laura DeLeonardis was tied for 83rd place with a final round score of 86.
Oklahoma State captured the overall team title by eight shots.
North Texas heads to the Conference USA Championship in Fort Myers, Florida April 20-22.
