Lee Leads Mean Green To Strong Round Three Finish
North Texas Shot A Team Total Of 295, As Sol Lee Carded A 1-Under 71
TUCSON, Arizona - Sophomore Sol Lee had her best round of the tournament Sunday during the final round of The MountainView from Tucson. Lee carded a 1-under par 71, helping the Mean Green post their best round of the weekend, totaling 295. Junior Nyca Khaw also had a strong showing Sunday, firing a 1-over, 73.
"I'm pleased we finished strong today," head coach Michael Akers said Sunday. "Anytime this team breaks 300, we konw we are improving and moving in the right direction. Sol Lee seems to always step up in the final round. We will work hard and adjust practice to prepare for Florida golf. We look forward to our next two events."
Lee birdied on four occasions Sunday, excelling on the third hole, sixth hole, 11th hole and 16th hole, respectively. Lee rebounded from a difficult first two days to finish her tournament at 12-over par, alongside her freshman teammate, Elena Kim.
Khaw, like Lee, had a rocky start to her weekend, but saved her best for last with her 1-over par performance Sunday. She on the fourth hole, and parred 15 holes to finish at 17-over par for the tournament.
Freshman Lauren Cox had a very good tournament for North Texas, finishing with the best total score on the team, at 9-over par, following her 4-over, 76 on the final day of competition.
North Texas returns to action from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida on Monday, April 3 through Tuesday, April 4 for the Web.com Invitational at the Marsh Landing Country Club, hosted by Jacksonville University.
