TUCSON, Arizona - The Mean Green sit in 11th place overall at 36-over par following the second round of action from The MountainView at the The MountainView Golf Club in Tucson. Freshman Elena Kim finished her second round at even par, after firing a team-low 72, which is the best single round she has played in her young collegiate career.

"It was great to see Elena break out with an even par round today," head coach Michael Akers said Saturday. "She is very talented and finally put a solid round on the board. The freshman have been on the rise this spring. Our goal is to break 300 as a team, so we hope we finish off strong in the final round."

Kim's previous best round was a 74 this past fall at the Little Rock Women's Golf Challenge. She birdied twice Saturday, on the third and sixth holes, respectively, to lead the way for the Mean Green on her way to an even-par 72. She is now tied in 32nd with fellow freshman, Lauren Cox, who is also five-over par for the tournament.

Cox was three-over on the second day, and like Kim, birdied twice Saturday, on No. 6 and No. 10, respectively.

North Texas returns to action from Tucson Sunday, March 12 for the third and final round, which tees off at 10:30 a.m. CT. Live scoring for the event is available here, courtesy of BirdieFire.
