Kwon And Kilponen Have Career Low Finishes For NT

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Freshman Eji Kwon notched the best performance of her brief career as she finished tied for fifth place to pace the North Texas women’s golf team at the Islander Spring Classic. Kwon shot a final round of even-par 72 shot up the leaderboard for her first career top-five finish of her career.

Kwon wasn’t the only one with a career performance and senior Taylor Kilponen came in with the best finish of her career. Despite a final round of 5-over par 77, Kilponen finished with in a tie for 10th place, the first top-10 finish of her career.

North Texas as a team shot score of 306 in the final round, their lowest score of the tournament to finish in fifth place in a field of 16 teams. Lamar captured the overall team title.

Brooke Bailey had her lowest score of the tournament with a 76 to finish tied for 40th place. Chaslyn Chrismer shot a final round of 81 and ended in a tie for 44th place while Laura DeLeonardis finished tied for 57th place after a third round of 86.

North Texas is back in action on March 11-12 at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Honolulu, HI.
