Kwon Ties Her Career-Best Round With A 69
Mean Green In Sixth Place After First Two Rounds
CORPUS CHRISTI – Junior Eji Kwon went low in the first-round of the Islander Spring Classic, tying her career-low round at 3-under par 69 as she is alone in fourth place after the first 36 holes. Kwon’s opening round of 69 is the best round of golf by a Mean Green player this season and tied her career-low score. Kwon shot a 69 last spring at the BYU Entrada Classic.
She is six shots off the lead and fell back in the second-round as she shot a 4-over par 76. She is at 1-over par 145 for the tournament.
Ali Christian reversed her fortunes after an opening round of 81 to bounce back with a 1-over par 73. She is tied for 21st after the first day. Samantha Huang is tied for 38th after shooting scores of 78 and 82 on the day. Kalli Jennings is tied for 41st place following scores of 84 and 77.
North Texas as a team is in sixth place after two-rounds. UTSA holds a commanding 18-stroke lead going into the final round of play, which begins Tuesday morning.
