Mean Green Fall To No 19 TCU 91-53

Fort Worth (12/31/03)- The North Texas women's basketball team fell to the 19th ranked TCU Lady Frogs 91-53 at Daniel Meyer Coliseum. The loss for the Mean Green is the seventh straight as they fall to 3-8 on the year.

North Texas opened the game with an early 16-11 lead with 12:59 in the first half keyed by senior forward Kim Blanton. TCU (10-1) responded with a 11-0 run thanks in part to a 3-pointer by Kim Ortega to take a 22-16 lead midway through the first half.

The Mean Green trimmed the lead to two points at 22-20 but the Lady Frogs extended their lead with a 13-0 run over the next 2:25 to make it 35-20. The Frogs saw their lead grow to 51-27 by the end of the first half.

The Mean Green opened the second half with the first six points but TCU responded again with a 11-0 run to pull away from North Texas. The Mean Green were led by senior forward Kim Blanton and sophomore forward Jamie Armstrong with 11 points on the afternoon.

 Junior guard Jill Medlock extended her school record streak from the free throw line with eight consecutive free throws. Medlock has now made 35 straight free throws and has yet to miss this season.

North Texas returns home January 2 to close out non-conference play against Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
