EDINBURG, Tex. - After snapping their eight-game losing streak on Wednesday night, the North Texas women's basketball team is looking for two in a row as they face UTPA tonight at 7 p.m. The Mean Green is coming off a 75-69 win over Sam Houston State and is looking for their first road win of the season.
Tip-off is at 7 p.m. and the game can be heard on 88.1 FM KNTU.
North Texas had one of the most complete offensive performances of the year against Sam Houston State. The Mean Green had five players score in double figures and four starters reach double figures in scoring.
It is the first time this season that North Texas has had five players score in double figures and only the fourth time in the last 41 games.
North Texas tied a season-high with 42 points in the paint in the win over Sam Houston State. It matched the 42 points the Mean Green put up against the Bearkats earlier in the season. In fact North Texas has scored 30 points or more in the paint this season in eight of the 10 games.
Only SMU and George Washington have held the Mean Green below the 30-point mark in the paint this season.
The Mean Green's bench production over the last three games has been steady and getting stronger. North Texas is averaging 27 points a game from its bench over the last three contests. Compare that to the previous three games in which North Texas only received 14.3 points of bench production.
