Forward Amber Jackson continues to clear hurdles and break records this season. Jackson scored 21 points against Houston and became the 11th player in school history to reach 1,000 points for her career. Jackson now has her sights set on moving up that list. She is 11th on the career points list but is less than 100 points away from racing up the charts to sixth all-time.
At her current pace Jackson is on track to finish as the fifth all-time leading scorer at North Texas.
Freshman guard Mansa El is the first North Texas freshman to start in the first six games of her career since Erika Bobo in the 2005-06 season. El’s production has also been on the rise.
She tied her career-high with eight points against Houston. El leads North Texas in 3-point field percentage, hitting 50 percent of her 3-pointers this season.
Junior Torrian Timms has found a nice role in coming off the bench this season for North Texas. She had scored just 16 points in her career through her first two seasons. This year, Timms has already surpassed that total through six games this season and leads North Texas in field goal percentage, hitting 70 percent of her shots.
Timms played a career-high 22 minutes against Houston as her role has increased.
