STARKVILLE, Miss. - The North Texas women's basketball team continues its eight-game road trip with an afternoon battle with Mississippi State today at 1 p.m. The Mean Green is looking to avoid its seventh straight loss on the season as they take on a Bulldog team that advanced to the Sweet 16 last season.
Tip off is set for 1 p.m. and the game can be heard on 88.1 FM KNTU.
North Texas is 1-11 all-time against opponents in the SEC. The Mean Green's only win came over Arkansas in 1980. That was a 59-50 win over the Hogs in the Mean Green Classic in Denton. The last time North Texas faced a team from SEC was when they played at then No. 1 LSU in 2004. North Texas has been notorious for slow starts to the game this season and it has cost them.
The Mean Green has been behind in six games at the half this season and lost all six games. North Texas scoring and field goal percentage differential from the first and second half have been substantial. North Texas is scoring nearly 15 more points in the second half than the first half and shooting it 11 percent better in the second half from the floor.
Jasmine Godbolt continues to round out into a complete player, notched another new career-best mark against Drake with 13 points. Godbolt has now scored in double figures in the first seven games of the
season, which breaks her previous career-best mark of six straight games of reaching double figures. Godbolt is also piling up the rebounds like last season. She is averaging 8.4 boards a game, which slightly higher than her 8.3 average of last season. However her scoring average of 16.7 points a game is five better than last year's average of 11.7.
