• Inside the Matchup
In a regional rivalry that began in 1979, NT is 1-11 against Oklahoma State in the all-time series. The sole Mean Green victory came in 1989 when North Texas knocked off the Cowgirls, 75-65, in Denton. The Mean Green also did battle with the Pokes in the WNIT of 2001, a 79-67 loss in Stillwater. NT is 0-8 in Stillwater.
• Protecting The Pit
North Texas hosted its first home tournament since the Mean Green Classic of 1981. Officially titled the “Hospitality Hill Challenge,” The Mean Green welcomed in three schools for a weekend tournament sponsored by the Courtyard Marriot, Best Western and Hilton Garden Inn Denton. NT swept its two opponents, Abilene Christian and Bethune-Cookman, by a combined 47 points.
• On the Defensive
Following a subpar defensive year last season, NT has stepped it up and is first season in C-USA in 3-pt field goal percentage defense, holding its opponents to 22.7 percent from beyond the arc. Furthermore, NT is second in field goal percentage defense in the league, limiting the opposition to 34.2 percent.
