Baton Rouge, LA (11/30/04) The North Texas women's basketball team continues its four-game road trip tonight with a visit to the top-ranked team in the nation, the LSU Tigers. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. The game can be heard live on KNTU (88.1 FM) in Dallas/Fort Worth.
The Mean Green (2-1) is coming off its first road win of the season against Sam Houston State and is looking for its first win against a Top 10 team in school history. The Tigers (7-0) are unbeaten this season and are coming off a 75-44 win against Colorado to win the Coors Classic Championship.
LSU has won the two meetings between the two teams. The first meeting was an 82-57 victory by the Tigers in 2000 in Baton Rouge. The second game was a 74-43 win by LSU on January 3, 2003.
North Texas faces the No. 1 team in the country for the first time in school history. The highest ranked team the Mean Green had played against was the second-ranked Purdue Boilmakers during the 1999-2000 season. The Boilermakers came away with a 79-68 victory.
