Mean Green women's basketball captured its third win in the last four games Saturday night at the UAB Thanksgiving Classic, as North Texas downed the host UAB Blazers 76-63.
The Mean Green (3-4) shot a season high 52.2 percent from the field, while holding the Blazers (2-4) to a 37.7 shooting percentage, the second lowest percentage the North Texas has allowed this season.
Britney James led all scorers with 19 points, going 8-of-14 from the field and 3-for-3 from the free throw line in 31 minutes of play.

James had good company in double figures scoring, as teammates Demetra Kellum (16), Niq'ky Hughes (16) and Jasmine Godbolt (13) all chipped in double-digit outings.
North Texas out-rebounded the Blazers 36 to 34. This is only the second time the Mean Green have out-rebounded an opponent this season.
The Mean Green held a halftime lead for only the third time this season and did not look back going on a 8-2 run to open the second half.
With 3 steals today, James moved into a tie for seventh on the North Texas all-time steals list with Lisa Risinger at 160 steals in her career.
Kellum set her career high in rebounding for the second straight night; she hauled in 9 boards to go along with her 16 points and 3 assists. This marks the fifth straight game she has scored in double digits.
The Mean Green will be back on the court Wednesday night, December 2, taking on the SMU Mustangs. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
