HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The North Texas women's basketball team looks to rebound from Sunday's loss at George Washington as they battle Sam Houston State tonight. The Mean Green faces the Bearkats in Huntsville tonight in the first of two games the teams will play this season.
Tip off is set for 6:30 p.m. and the game can be heard on 88.1 FM KNTU.
North Texas and Sam Houston State are meeting for the 33rd time in series history. The Mean Green leads its old Southland Conference rival 21-11. North Texas has won four of the last five meetings between the two schools.
It will be only the fourth game between the two teams since 2004, but it will be the first of two games this season between the two schools. The Bearkats won the last matchup in 2009 against North Texas in Huntsville, a 79-72.
The Mean Green had a season-low 15 turnovers against George Washington. It was the fewest turnovers in a game for the Mean Green since committing 11 against last season against Denver on February 13.
North Texas was held to a season-low 53 points by George Washington and a season-low 29 percent shooting from the floor. It is only the seventh time in the Shanice Stephens era that North Texas has been held to 53 points or fewer in a game.
