On the eve of the first North Texas-hosted women's hoops tournament in 22 years, head coach Mike Petersen has gotten impressive play from starting forward Acheil Tac, who, a mere year ago, played sparingly off the bench.

The sophomore from Garland has started all three games thus far for the women's hoops squad and is averaging a double-double on the season.

She is pulling down a team-high 10.3 boards per game and has been a weapon around the rim on both offense and defense for the Mean Green.

Furthermore, she is averaging 10.0 points per game, the second-highest mark on the team, and she has set career highs in points (13 against Kansas City) and rebounds (14 at Houston).

You can see Acheil "Shelly" Tac take the court for the Mean Green this weekend when NT hosts the Hospitality Hill Challenge and welcomes ACU, Bethune-Cookman and Grand Canyon to Denton, Texas.

The Mean Green will face Abilene Christian on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 7:30 p.m. and Bethune-Cookman on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 5 p.m.
