North Texas Rides Three-Game Winning Streak Into Tonight

DENTON, Tex. (11/21/07) The holiday season is underway and the North Texas women’s basketball team has continued to deliver wins as the Mean Green are riding a three-game winning streak heading into tonight’s game with UA-Monticello.


The Mean Green is coming off a 36-point thrashing of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to open its home schedule on Sunday and looks to keep the momentum going against the Cotton Blossoms tonight at 7 p.m.


The 36-point victory by North Texas over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is the 22nd time under head coach Tina Slinker that the Mean Green has won by 30 points or more. The 36-point margin of victory is the 13th largest in school history.


During the three-game winning streak for the Mean Green, the bench has been coming up big for Tina Slinker’s bunch. In the past three games the North Texas bench has outscored the opposition’s bench 75-43. For the year the Mean Green is outscoring its opposition’s bench 23-14.


Junior Jo Hall recorded her first career double-double in the win over the Islanders and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Brittney James has scored in double figures in three games and is averaging just over 13 points a game.


This is the second of three straight home games for North Texas as they will close out the homestand against Midwestern State on Friday night at 7 p.m.
