Women's Basketball Opens Practice

DENTON, Texas- North Texas women’s basketball held its first practice of the 2011-12 season today, its first full practice under new head coach Karen Aston. The Mean Green begin preparations for their season which begins on November 11 at UT Arlington.
Aston begins her first season at North Texas, after posting 86 wins and four trips to the postseason at Charlotte. Aston looks to bring the type of success, which saw her lead Charlotte to a 2009 appearance in the NCAA Tournament and an appearance in the 2011 WNIT Final Four, to North Texas.
North Texas returns four starters and nine letterwinners from its 2010-11 team, including Jasmine Godbolt, who averaged 13.2 points and led the team with 7.9 rebounds a contest. Also returning are leading assister Kasondra Foreman, Ash’Lynne Evans, who led the squad in blocks, and Tamara Torru, who co-led the team with 30 games played and averaged 8.0 points per game.
The Mean Green begins their season on November 11 at UT Arlington, and open their home slate on November 14, when it hosts New Mexico in the Super Pit.
