Road Contest At Rice To Be Aired Nationally
January 10 Matchup Picked Up By American Sports Network
DENTON - The North Texas women’s basketball team’s road contest against Rice will be televised across the country by American Sports Network, Conference USA announced on Thursday.
Tipoff against the Owls is set for 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, from the Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston. Rice finished 12th in the conference last season.
The 2016 matchup will be the seventh all-time meeting between the two sides, with each team winning three games a piece in the series. In 2014-15, each game between the two teams came down to the wire. The Mean Green picked up one of its wins last season with a 53-48 home victory in 2015, exactly one year prior to 2016’s televised contest. When North Texas traveled to Houston on February 1, it was the Owls that escaped with a 58-55 overtime win.
In all, 15 women’s basketball games are set to be picked up through the league's partnership with Sinclair Broadcasting Group and ASN - five from the regular-season and 10 from the Women’s Basketball Championship in Birmingham. Coverage of C-USA basketball will also be available online through the C-USA Digital Network, available exclusively on the league's official website. Non-televised conference home games will be offered live for Mean Green All-Access subscribers, along with weekly highlights and feature programming.
