Women's Basketball Connects Past Traditions To Build The Present
DENTON - Mean Green DNA looks into the aspects that make up our programs within North Texas Athletics.
The second week of Mean Green DNA takes a look at North Texas traditions. Entering her third season at the helm of the women’s basketball program, head coach and 2002 Mean Green alum Jalie Mitchell draws the traditions and experience from her time as a member of the most successful senior class as she builds the program.
Mitchell, the program's all-time leading scorer, graduated from North Texas with an enduring love and pride for the school and its community. When she was hired in May of 2015, she called North Texas her dream job. She returned to Denton with the goal of bringing championships back to the Mean Green as well as returning the program back to one that represented with passion and pride.
In her first two seasons, the Mean Green have improved their record on each of the previous seasons and set program records each year. The team has also set program-highs in grade point average (3.167) and is active in the community.
Keep an eye out each Tuesday and Thursday for new installments featuring different themes and highlighting different programs.
