North Texas Adds Inside Presence Tosin Mabodu

June 2, 2015

On Tuesday, Jalie Mitchell announced that 6-1 forward Tosin Mabodu will transfer to North Texas from Murray State College. She will be eligible to play for the Mean Green next season as a sophomore.

"Tosin is a great addition to our family; we were fortunate that she was still available," Mitchell said. "In such a short period of time, she was able to see and believe our vision, and trust in the direction this program is headed. She brings some much-needed depth to the post position."

As a freshman at Murray State College, Mabodu regularly showed that she was a force to be reckoned with. She averaged 6.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game, recording four double-doubles in the process. On the offensive end, Mabodu boasted a 55.8-percent mark from the field and scored in double-figures seven times. Her best game came at Connors State College on January 19, when she had career marks of 16 points and 13 rebounds, while also adding six blocks.

"Tosin's not afraid of hard work and has a knack for positioning herself to get touches and rebounds," Mitchell continued. "Her strength and presence inside will give us more options on both ends of the floor. To top that off, she's an incredible student who competes in the classroom just as hard as she competes on the court."

Mabodu hails from Chicago, where she graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in 2014. She played under head coach Anthony Smith on the varsity squad for her first three years before missing her senior season due to injury. Mabodu plans to study business at the University of North Texas.
