DENTON, Texas - The honors and accolades continue to roll in for the incoming class of North Texas women's basketball players as Loryn Goodwin was named the 2011-12 VYPE Magazine Player of the Year. Goodwin, who led Cy-Falls High School to the semifinals of the Class 5A tournament, was tagged as the West Houston Player of the Year by the Magazine.
"I am really happy for Loryn," said head coach Mike Petersen. "This is a well-deserved honor and is recognition of the great senior season she had. All of us in the North Texas basketball family are excited for and proud of Loryn. We are excited that she will part of our program for the next four years.
Goodwin was named District 17-5A MVP and an All-State selection by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and the Texas Girls Coaches Association. This season she averaged 18.6 points and 7.8 rebounds a game and had 5.1 steals and 3.7 assists per contest.
Goodwin led her team to 37 wins and the school's first ever trip to the Class 5A state tournament in Austin this season.
