#First44 Day 41: On the Coaches Caravan

May 20, 2015

Mitchell was named head coach of the North Texas women's basketball team on April 9, 2015. Between moving back to Denton, getting to know the team and beginning to operate the Mean Green program, Mitchell will be very busy early on in her tenure. We want to give fans an in-depth look at her #First44 days on the job in the form of a 44-part series that will run from April 10-May 23.

Beginning this week, Jalie Mitchell has been a part of her first North Texas Coaches Caravan. The five-part series of events started on Tuesday in Gainesville, with the second stop on Wednesday in Fort Worth. The panel at the White Elephant Saloon in the Stockyards included head coaches Carl Sheffield, Dan McCarney, Tony Benford and Mitchell, as each gave Mean Green supporters a taste of the exciting things to come for their respective sports.

Some topics covered by Mitchell were the incoming recruits - Kelsey Criner and the four Power 5 transfers - as well as her plan to instill a winning culture to the Mean Green women's basketball program. She also spoke about the support of alumni and how important that will be in order to bring a consistent fan base to the Super Pit to support the team. The North Texas Coaches Caravan has three dates remaining; May 21 in Dallas, May 26 in Plano and May 28 at Apogee Stadium.
