#First44 Day 34: #CUSATakeOver
C-USA WBB Coaches Decide on Season-Long Hashtag
Mitchell was named head coach of the North Texas women's basketball team on April 9, 2015. Between moving back to Denton, getting to know the team and beginning to operate the Mean Green program, Mitchell will be very busy early on in her tenure. We want to give fans an in-depth look at her #First44 days on the job in the form of a 44-part series that will run from April 10-May 23.
There is no doubt that women's basketball in Conference USA is on the rise. Last season, a No. 12 seed Western Kentucky team almost upset No. 5 seed Texas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, while Southern Miss and Middle Tennessee both made the Elite 8 of the WNIT. So, at the C-USA meetings in Destin, Florida, Jalie Mitchell and the rest of the coaches decided on a social media hashtag that applies to what the programs hope to accomplish this season...
"There was a lot of information presented in the head coaches meetings," she said. "This is a talented conference, from coaches to players. I'm encouraged by the enthusiasm in the room and the commitment to making our league the best it can be. We are ready to show the world that we are a big deal."
When using social media, North Texas fans can use #CUSATakeOver to connect with other folks who support the C-USA's mission to make a name for itself in the women's basketball world. Mitchell and the Mean Green will be working hard to make #CUSATakeOver a reality on the court.
