DENTON, Texas – North Texas women’s basketball coach Mike Petersen announced the signing of Kasiney Williams of Baton Rouge Community College to a National Letter of Intent.
Williams, a 5-3 point guard, will have two seasons of eligibility remaining with the Mean Green and join early signees Bria Frierson, Jaileen Thomas and Megan Womack for the 2014-15 season.
“She meets an immediate need of ours,” coach Petersen said. “She is a great team leader with excellent straight-line speed. She makes good decisions with the ball and can put score from the point guard position.”
Williams started all 24 games for the Bears in 2013-14 and led the team in assists at 2.8 per game and averaged 7.7 points per contest.
“She will bring an unbelievable work ethic to the table, both in the weight room and on the court,” said Paula Lee, the head coach of Baton Rouge Community College. “She goes hard at everything she does, and she is a winner in my opinion.”
The Louisiana product scored in double figures seven times and had a season-high 19 points. In high school, Williams was the Co-Defensive MVP of District 4-5A and a first-team all-district selection.
