DENTON, Texas - North Texas women's basketball added Weatherford CC transfer Joh'Vonna Darrington on Wednesday, April 17, as she signed her Letter of Intent.
"We are excited to have Joh’Vonna join our program," head coach Mike Petersen said. "She is a great athlete with a skill set that will fit our style of play extremely well. Most importantly, Vonnie is an outstanding person who comes from a great Junior College program at Weatherford."
The six-foot tall forward comes to Denton fresh off of a productive sophomore campaign for the Lady Coyotes. The Oklahoma City product will add size and depth to a solid group of wing players.
"Her size, athleticism and skill set will give her the ability to play multiple positions and have an impact for us on both ends of the floor," Petersen said.
Darrington averaged 13.4 ppg as well as 8.4 boards per game and started 21 games in the 2012-13 season. She was a first-team all-conference selection for the Lady Coyotes and averaged 18.1 points and 7.9 rebounds as a freshman.
