#First44 Day 2: House Hunting in Denton
Mitchell Excited to Own a Home Once Again
Mitchell was named head coach of the North Texas women's basketball team on April 9, 2015. Between moving back to Denton, getting to know the team and beginning to operate the Mean Green program, Mitchell will be very busy early on in her tenure. We want to give fans an in-depth look at her #First44 days on the job in the form of a 44-part series that will run from April 10-May 23.
For nine years, Jalie Mitchell had been renting apartments; such is life for an assistant coach who might be on the move from season-to-season. But being the newly-named head coach for the Mean Green, Mitchell knows where she will be for the foreseeable future and has already begun searching for houses in the area.
Before leaving Austin, Mitchell did some research so she had a few locations on her short list. After the first day of following up on the spots she found online, Mitchell might have already found "The One."
"This is going to be awesome to own a home for the first time in 10 years," she said. "I'm excited that I found a house I like so fast. I'm ready to get settled and should be there within a month."
There is no need to say that these living arrangements will also be a bit more impressive than the dorms Mitchell lived in during her playing days at North Texas. As most folks who went to school know, the dorm room with the kitchenette and single bed does not really compare to a full-size home in any respect. Mitchell is excited to finally own her own house once again, and is looking forward to having the team over for a visit once she officially moves into the neighborhood.
