Petree Leaves To Become Angelo State Head Coach

DENTON, Texas – North Texas women’s basketball assistant coach Cayla Petree has left the program to become the head coach at Angelo State University.

Petree leaves the Mean Green after one season in which she helped coach Sun Belt Freshman of the Year Loryn Goodwin.

“I am very excited for Cayla and want to thank her for time here at North Texas. I think she will do a great job at Angelo State,” said head coach Mike Petersen.

Petree spent five seasons at Cisco Junior College as the head coach before coming to North Texas. While at Cisco, she led the Wranglers to three Region V Tournament Appearances in 2010, 2011 and 2012, the first three times Cisco had made the tournament since 2003. Over her last three seasons at Cisco, she led the Wranglers to a 66-28 record and a 36-8 mark in conference play.

A search for her replacement will begin immediately.
