WBB Signees Taylor, Goodwin Named All-State

DENTON, Texas - North Texas Women's Basketball Signees I'Tiana Taylor and Loryn Goodwin were named First Team All-State in classification 5A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Both players begin their North Texas careers in the fall. Taylor and Goodwin were also named MVPs of their respective districts.

I'Tiana Taylor is a power forward from Pflugerville High School, and was named MVP of District 16-5A this season and an All-State selection by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Taylor ranks as the 52nd best power forward in the country by Dan Olsen Girls Basketball Report. As a junior in 2010-11, she helped Pflugerville to a 30-7 record and the regional final, averaging 9.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 1.6 assists per game. She was named to the District 16-5A First Team and Texas Basketball Magazine Honorable Mention, along with being named Miss Offense and Miss Defense by Pflugerville. As a sophomore in 2009-10, she helped Pflugerville to a district championship, averaging 11.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.3 steals, and 1.2 assists per game. She was named as the All-Central Texas Newcomer of the Year and the District 22-5A Newcomer of the Year in 2009-10.

Loryn Goodwin is a guard from Cypress Falls High School, which made a run to the 5A State Semifinals before falling to Duncanville. She was named District 17-5A MVP and an All-State selection by the Texas Association of Basketball coaches. Prior to the 2011-12 season at Cy-Falls, she played at Temple High School, where she posted 19.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.7 steals, and three assists per game in 2010-11. For her 2010-11 season, she was named TGCA All-State and TBCA All-Region, All-Super Centex team, academic all-district team, and was the District 12-5A Offensive MVP. She was named newcomer of the year in 2008-09, and has been named First Team All-District for three straight years. A versatile athlete she has been named first team all-district 12-5A in volleyball and track. Her cousin, Marquise Goodwin, is wide receiver and a four-time All-American in track and field at the University of Texas.
