Lady Eagles Catch Washington In First-Round WNIT Game

Announced Sunday night, the North Texas women’s basketball team (21-8) will be one of 32 teams to compete in the 2002 Postseason WNIT.  The Lady Eagles will open tournament play at Washington (17-11) on Thurs., March 14.

Times for all first-round games will be announced by the host schools on Monday, March 11.

Competing in the Postseason WNIT for the second consecutive year, the Lady Eagles won the West Division of the Sun Belt Conference this season and advanced to the league tournament’s championship game where they fell to No. 25 Florida International, 49-66.  North Texas won a school-record 21 games this season, including 12 of their last 14. 

Washington currently holds a 17-11 record and finished tied for second place in the Pac-10 Conference this season.  The Huskies have won seven of their last 10 games.
