North Texas sits fourth place in the SBC West Division and with a win they will clinch the No. 9 seed in the SBC Tournament and face Arkansas State in the first round.
Jasmine Godbolt and Denetra Kellum paired up for double-doubles in the win over Louisiana- Lafayette. It was the eighth double-double of the year for Godbolt, a freshman record, but the first for Denetra Kellum of her career.
For North Texas is marked the first time that two players had double-doubles in a game since 2005. Not since December 3, 2005 against SMU when Erika Bobo and Mia Ajekwu had double-doubles, has the Mean Green repeated that feat until Godbolt and Kellum.
North Texas had perhaps its best offensive night of the year against Louisiana-Lafayette. The Mean Green had the second most points of the year with 90, the second highest field goal percent at 53.2, and the 23-point margin of victory was the largest of the season. The 23-point win was also the most-points that North Texas has won by in the Shanice Stephens era.
North Texas, coming off its worst rebounding performance of the year against UALR with 23, turned in the best night of work on the glass in over five seasons.
North Texas grabbed just 23 rebounds against the Trojans but against Louisiana-Lafayette the Mean Green pulled down 58 rebounds, the highest total in the Shanice Stephens era, and the most rebounds in a game for North Texas since December 22, 2005 when the Mean Green equaled the total of 58 against Prairie View A&M.
