DENTON, Texas (2/21/09) It’s the home finale for the Mean Green women’s basketball team as they host the West Division Champion UALR Trojans at 7 p.m. tonight at the Super Pit. North Texas is honoring five seniors tonight and looking to close out the home regular season with two straight wins.
Senior Tricia Lee has taken to her game to a new high over the last two games, setting career-highs in points the last two games. Lee had 30 points against ULM in topping her previous career, set one game earlier. Lee has hit over 60 percent of her shots in the last two games from the floor and 61 percent of her 3-pointers.
Tricia Lee’s 30-point game put her into a very exclusive club, along with Brittney James and Amber Jackson. Lee is the third different player for North Texas to score 30 points or more in a game this season. That has never happened in a single season at North Texas where three different players scored 30 points in a season.
James scored 34 points against Charleston Southern, while Jackson had her 30 point game Troy. Three other times in school history has a team had two players score 30 points in a game but never before have three players from the same squad topped the 30-point mark in a year.
North Texas will bid farewell to five senior’s on Saturday night as its the final regular season home game for the Mean Green. Amber Jackson, Tricia Lee, Jo Hall, Yari Escalera, and Kelli Buckley will all play in their final game at the Super Pit. Jackson, Lee, and Hall are four-year senior’s who have been part of 52 wins and won a West Division title in 2005-06.
Escalera is in the top 10 all-time in 3-pointers along with Lee. Jackson is the all-time leading rebounder in school history and in the top 10 in scoring, rebounding, and field goals.
