DENTON, Texas - The North Texas women's basketball team will be looking to end the nation's third longest winning streak on Sunday afternoon as they host UALR at 12 p.m. The game will be televised on the Sun Belt Network and can be hard on 88.1 FM KNTU.
North Texas begins the final stretch of the regular season by playing three games in six days starting with UALR. The Trojans have already wrapped up the West Division title and are riding a 16-game winning streak into the game.
North Texas will also hold its annual WBCA Pink Zone Game to support Breast Cancer Awareness against UALR.
Fans are encouraged to come dressed in pink to support breast cancer awareness, and there will be Pink North Texas T-Shirts at the Mean Green Gear Stand by the Fun Zone. There will also be donation areas at each gate to support the Kay Yow/WCBA Cancer Fund.
Brittney James who has already made a large impact in the North Texas record books this season, has added another one to her list. James became just the sixth player in school history to top the 1,300 point mark as she sits with 1,310 points in her career.
She has 381 points this season, which is 72 points away from joining the top 10 in a single season for most points. If James can join the top 10, it will mark back-to-back seasons where the Mean Green will have had a player score reach the top 10 in points in a single season. That has never happened before in school history.
Freshman Jasmine Godbolt is turning in the possibly the best season in school history by a true freshman. She already has set the freshman record for most double-doubles in a single season with seven at North Texas, and now you can add the freshman rebounding record to that list. She has pulled down 215 rebounds, which breaks the previous mark of 202 held by Talicia Sanders.
