MONROE, La. (2/20/08) It’s a midweek battle for the North Texas women’s basketball team as they look to keep their momentum going against ULM. The Mean Green faces off with ULM in a key West Division showdown tonight on the road in Monroe. North Texas has won seven of its past 10 games and moved to just one game behind the Warhawks in the West Division.
The Mean Green remains 2 1/2 games behind Arkansas State for the division lead with four games to play. North Texas is coming off a 25-point rout of Troy on Saturday. ULM is coming off a three-point overtime defeat to Denver on Saturday to snap a three-game winning streak the Warhawks were riding.
ULM won the first meeting this year 65-59 at the Super Pit thanks in part to eight 3-pointers.

The Mean Green won seven of 10 games during one stretch during the 2005-06 season, but this most recent run by North Texas is only the second time in the past five years that the Mean Green has won seven times in a 10 games stretch.
The Mean Green hit a season-high nine 3-pointers in the victory over Troy. It was the most 3-pointers in a game by North Texas since tying a school record 11 last season on January 11, 2007. The nine 3-pointers are tied for the 10th most in school history in a single game. North Texas over the past three games has hit 43 percent of its 3-point shots.
Yari Escalera and Brittney James have been responsible for the surge. Escalera has hit half of her 3-pointers on the year in the last five games. Escalera has hit 13 3-pointers in the last five games, which has doubled her total on the year to 26.
