On Tap

North Texas enters the final stretch of the regular season with a 9-8 Sun Belt mark still in hot pursuit of both a SBC West title and a bye in the conference tournament. The Owls of Florida Atlantic have lost seven of their last eight but still have plenty to play for heading into the tournament involving potential seeding. FAU ranks third in the Sun Belt in scoring with 69.2 ppg.

The Series

Florida Atlantic holds the historical edge in its series with the Mean Green. Including the January 19th win in Boca Raton, the Owls now hold a 6-2 advantage in the series. With FAU en route to C-USA, North Texas will have a chance to regain ground in the competitive series for years to come.

Lookin’ Good

Loryn Goodwin is the first North Texas player with three straight 20-point games or more since Jalie Mitchell did it during the 2001-02 season. She is the first freshman to score 20 points in three straight games since Ashley Norris in 1995-96. Goodwin needs just one more 20-point game or more to become the only freshman in school history to top the 20-point total in four straight games. The freshman record for most points in a single season was set by Ramona Black at 462 during the 1987-88 season. Goodwin has an outside shot at the record with 357 points on the year and three regular season games and at least one conference tournament game remaining. Goodwin is also the only player in the nation this season with 14 3-pointers in back-to-back games this year.
