North Texas Looking For Three Straight At MTSU

MURFREESOBORO, Tenn. (2/15/09) The Mean Green women’s basketball team has found its comfort zone on the road and today they face perhaps their biggest challenge of the season with a battle at Middle Tennessee.  North Texas has won two straight and is looking to end the nation’s fourth longest winning streak as the Blue Raiders have won 16 in a row.

North Texas had one of its best defensive performances of the year against New Orleans. The Mean Green held UNO to 52 points, the second fewest points allowed this season. The 29 percent shooting by the Privateers was also the second lowest field goal percentage given up by North Texas this year.

In the last two games the Mean Green is holding its opponents to 57.5 points a game and just 33 percent shooting.

Guard Brittney James has been coming on over the last four games and against New Orleans notched a career-high 11 rebounds as she picked up her second double-double of the season. James in the last four games is averaging 16 points a game and has moved to 13th place all-time in scoring at North Texas.

James needs only five more points to move into 12th place and 109 to join Amber Jackson in scoring 1,000 points for a career.
