NEW ORLEANS, La. - The long and winding road is nearly over for the North Texas women's basketball team as they take on New Orleans tonight at the Lakefront Arena at 7 p.m. The Mean Green, playing on the road for the fourth time in the last five games, is looking to stop a four-game losing streak tonight. The game can be heard on 88.1 FM KNTU.
North Texas has topped 100 3-pointers this season which marks the 10 time in the past 11 seasons that the Mean Green has more than 100 3-pointers in a year. North Texas has a chance to break the school record for 3-pointers which stands at 134 set during the 2001-02 season. North Texas currently is 11th all-time with 104 3-pointers.
Ravven Brown has turned in her two best back-to-back games of the season. She turned in a career-high 11 points against FIU, her second straight game in double figures. Brown has connected on 70 percent of her shots during that time and handled the point guard position as well as it has been all year for North Texas.
In the last two games Brown has dished out five assists while only committing two turnovers. In that span she has also had five steals on the defensive side of the ball.
Brittney James became the sixth player in school history to record 200 steals for a career. James, is the only player in school history to score 1,000 points, hit 100 3-pointers, and record 200 steals in a career. She has 54 steals on the season and needs only 15 more to crack the top 10 for steals in a single season at North Texas.
Raquel Cuffie over the last four games has had her most productive stretch of the season. In the last four games Cuffie is averaging over nine points a game along with four rebounds a game. During that time she has connected on 62 percent of her shots and been the second leading scorer for North Texas in that time.
