BOWLING GREEN, Ky.(2/8/03) -- Leslie Logsdon scored the final eight points in overtime as Western Kentucky (14-8, 8-2) held off a valiant effort by the North Texas women's basketball team to pick up a Sun Belt Conference win 89-85 at E.A. Diddle Arena.
North Texas (8-13, 3-7) went on a 7-0 run in the overtime frame to take an 85-81 with 1:40 remaining until Logsdon connected on two straight 3-point baskets, the second coming with 21 seconds left, to put the Lady Toppers up for good. Logsdon ended the night with 29 points and 14 rebounds.
The Lady Eagles got a career-high 22 points from senior post Vilma Grismanauskaite as the Lady Eagles took command of the game midway through the second half. Grismanauskaite and freshman Jamie Armstrong sparked a 10-2 North Texas run to make it 57-50 Lady Eagles with 10:20 left in regulation. Western Kentucky trailed until Shaila Reese converted a three-point play to tie the game up at 66 with 4:13 in the second half.
North Texas answered with five straight points to go back up 71-66, but the Lady Toppers fought back and closed to within two points at 74-72 with 29 seconds left. Reese, who finished the night with 31 points, sent the game into overtime with a basket with 11 seconds remaining.
Erika Bobo scored 15 points for the Lady Eagles and Armstrong came off the bench to add 12 points. The Lady Eagles have now dropped four straight games and continue their road trip on February 13 with a visit to the Denver Pioneers.
