DENTON, Texas - The North Texas women's basketball team is home Wednesday night looking to bounce back from two straight losses as they host Florida Atlantic. Game time at the Super Pit is at 7 p.m. and the game can be heard on 88.1 FM KNTU.

North Texas and Florida Atlantic will be meeting for only the fourth time in series history. The Mean Green holds a 2-1 series edge over the Owls. North Texas won the first matchup between the two teams in 2007, an 80-72 win in Denton.

The following season the Mean Green picked up a 74-66 win on the road over the Owls. Florida Atlantic won last season at the Super Pit 70-69 for their only win in the series.

It is no secret what has been plaguing the Mean Green in the losses this season, turnovers. The Mean Green is 0-12 this season when losing the turnover battle but 6-3 when winning it. In the 16 losses this year, North Texas is averaging 26 turnovers a game in the losses, but that number drops to 21 in the six wins this season.

In the two losses to Western Kentucky and MTSU, the Mean Green had 65 turnovers and allowed a combined 91 points off of those turnovers.

Niq'ky Hughes had a career-game for North Texas against Middle Tennessee as she tied her career-high with 19 points off the bench. Hughes hit a career-best nine field goals and had three steals in 31 minutes of action.

It was the first time that Hughes had scored in double figures since December 5 at Houston. It is the seventh time that she has scored in double figures this season.

Wednesday night North Texas is also teaming up with the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) to collect supplies for local elementary schools. Supplies will be collected at Gates A, C, and D tonight and supplies of all kind from pens and pencils to paper, notebooks, and crayons are welcomed.
