Game Notes

On Tap

North Texas won its first game since January 17 at FIU by handily sweeping the season series with the Ragin Cajuns of ULL. With the win, North Texas moved to 7-5 in conference play heading into the pivotal SBC west matchup with Arkansas State. The Red Wolves have been on a tear in conference play and maintain a 9-3 SBC mark. They have won their last seven games dating back to the beginning of January and can put a stranglehold on the division with a win against the Mean Green.

The Series

North Texas meets Arkansas State for the first time since last season, a victory in Denton by a margin of 14 for the Mean Green. Overall, Arkansas State still holds a sizeable series lead, 20-9, and has dominated the recent history winning nine of the last 10.

Freshman Fury

Freshman Alexis Hyder put a dominating performance at Louisiana-Lafayette with 14 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. This was the fifth double-double of the season for Hyder and she is now only four away from tying the freshman record for most double-doubles in a single season. The 16 rebounds for Hyder are the most by a freshman at North Texas in a game since Talicia Sanders had 18 rebounds against FIU in 2005.

Locking Up Lafayette

North Texas held Louisiana-Lafayette to only 46 points defensively, the lowest points allowed on the year. The Mean Green kept the Ragin Cajuns at bay from behind the arc, limiting Louisiana-Lafayette to just 16 percent shooting, the third lowest percentage of the season.
