DENVER, Colo. - Following a heartbreaking loss to Louisiana-Lafayette on Wednesday, the North Texas women's basketball team looks to end their three-game slide Saturday afternoon as they take on the Denver Pioneers in the Mile High City. Tip-off from the Magness Arena is set for 2:30 and the game can be hard on 88.1 FM KNTU.
North Texas sprinted out of the gate against Louisiana-Lafayette to season-highs in the first half with 48 points and a season-high seven 3-pointers through the first 20 minutes. North Texas also hit 46.2 percent of its shots and had a nine-point lead.
The second half saw North Texas scored just 21 points, hit only eight field goals and 34 percent of its shots. The other key was turnovers and assists. At the half, the Mean Green had eight assists and eight turnovers. The second half North Texas had just one assist and 13 turnovers.
North Texas got great bench production against Louisiana-Lafayette as Ash'Lynne Evans, Laura McCoy, and Desiree Nelson combined to score 20 points. All three players are true freshman who each had a 3-pointer in the game. McCoy and Nelson had two 3-pointers. The trio ended with 20 points, nine rebounds, and five 3-pointers in the game.
Jasmine Godbolt collected her 15th career double-double against Louisiana-Lafayette with 13 points and 11 rebounds. It was her sixth of the season and only the second time in her career she has had back-to-back double-doubles. She has never recorded three straight double-doubles which she can do against Denver.
